Yeah, that David Cook, the one who won American Idol in 2008-- you may have heard of him. His self-titled album, released last year, went platinum. (You should go pick it up if you don't already have it.) David Cook and his band (The Anthemic- made up of Andy Skib, Neal Tiemann, Kyle Peek, and Joey Clement/Monty Anderson) toured for most of 2009, just recently ending the tour on December 2. He is now working on his next album which should be out in 2010.
The tour was extremely successful; the original 50 tour dates turned into about 150. The same set-lists were rarely repeated so that the songs would be fresh for everyone. Not only did they revamp songs from his album, but they did some surprising covers. In my opinion, their covers rival and/or surpass the originals. (Also, David Cook's beautiful voice sounds even better when he's live!) The best covers include
"Little Lies" originally by Fleetwood Mac,
"[I Just] Died in Your Arms Tonight" by Cutting Crew, and
"Shattered Dreams" by Johnny Hates Jazz. Have a listen, and let me know what you think!
